So last night we had to say goodbye to Gizmo. He was wonderful excpet for the fact that he did not like Carlee. No matter what the situation, he would growl at her, and it made her feel really bad. He was fine with Porter and Andy, but had issues with Carlee and myself (when I made him get off my bed that had 5 loads of clean laundry all over it). We were sad, but the kids are doing fine which matters the most. We are just going to have to schedule more visits with Apollo, a dog of a 3rd year medical student that Andy is friends with (Apollo has visited with us before). We think we will wait to get a dog after residency, when all of the kids are older, but who knows, we all love animals so much.

That's too bad. Chase growls at the kids and I hate it so I totally understand what you mean. Hopefully you decide what you want and find a dog that better fits your family.
It's OK Shay, Andy used to growl at Danielle and we tried to get rid of him too, but they kept bringing him back. Hang in there, you will eventually find the perfect dog for your family and you will still have days that you hate having a dog.
That's a good thing that you got a "trial". We have a boxer that is absolutely AMAZING....with any children. He lets babies, young children and whoever else, (besides mean strangers) pull his ears, chase him, push him everything that kids do to dogs and he doesn't even flinch. He licks them and plays back or if he isn't up to playing he gets up and moves. My point is that we got a boxer because they are very well known for their temperaments with all people, animals but especially children! Something to think about if you are really wanting a dog. Good luck! Love you guys!
